Freshman Week 1970, Part II

At some point everyone had to go get their picture taken for their identification card. This operation took place in the RMC and by the look of it, it was not anything like the painful process that one undergoes at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Everyone seems to be having a good time, including the photographer. (I especially like pictures of people who are taking pictures.)

Bonus: Here’s Alex Dessler, the founding chair of the Space Science department, taking a picture of me in the Woodson a couple of weeks ago. We had a really nice visit.

You just don’t see cameras that also punch hollerith cards any more.
There’s a box of blank punch cards on the barstool.

The pictures show that the ceiling of the Grand Hall in the RMC was always dirty. yuk.

BTW, based on the fashions I really believe this is from 1970. The hair, the sleeveless tunics (sometimes over pants), etc.

    Very much enjoying your blog!

Funny, I don’t remember pictures being taken, nor did our id’s have a picture, but it did have our SS# preceded by a 2.

Wow! Short tie. And pocket protector (or maybe glasses case.)

In the second photo, the male in the line with the glasses, striped shirt and shorts looks like Doug Appling.
