    Can you tell us anything more about that disk? IBM developed the first commercial disk drive in 1956 (the RAMAC 350 Storage Unit). It had 50 two-foot diameter disks (100 magnetic surfaces) and an overall capacity of 5 megabytes … 2,000 bits per square inch. (For comparison, today’s drives have more than 600 billion bits per square inch … and earlier this year Seagate said it had demonstrated a trillion bits per square in its research lab.) But the IBM disk’s magnetic surface was an annulus, (like a two-dimensional doughnut) and had a much bigger inside diameter than the one you showed in the video. I wonder who made it for the R1 folks.
