Some mild mischief from the mid-80s—when men were men and the shorts were short.
Bonus: I may be in Nebraska, but alert readers are still on the job in Houston. These photos come courtesy of the sharp-eyed and always inquisitive Leonard Lane, who correctly surmised that it had something to do with the Turrell Skyspace.
Here’s a link to the Thresher story from earlier this month that explains it all.
Oh, there were Lovett Hall climbers before the 80’s. I remember an acquaintance getting much higher than the guy in the picture in early 70’s. Crazy guy, but pretty amazing to watch.
That’s Jean-Pierre Boyea, Hanszen ’85, up on the building.
You know when you are a climber, you find out how much people look up and how observant they are.
I thought that looked like JP Boyea. I knew I’d seen those shorts somewhere. 😉
In that case, it might be two other Hanszenites of my era. Erik Ashpaugh and Mike Monarchi, maybe? I could be totally wrong.
Eric Strom and Mark Thomas.
OK, I was totally wrong. 😉
