The other Kalb who graduated in 1916 was Ervin, better known for his whole life as “Tiny.” He wasn’t, of course, but rather the opposite. I’ve written about him during his student days when he was a key element of Rice’s earliest football, basketball and track teams and one of our first real stars. Here he is in 1913 playing at Rice Field–he’s the tall one right in the middle, without a helmet:

Did Bob Rule ever publish the book on Rice football he mentions in his column?
This article in the December 3, 1959 Thresher (https://scholarship.rice.edu/bitstream/handle/1911/45493/58.pdf?sequence=1) said that Rule “is finishing his book entitled Twenty Years of Football at The Rice Institute.”
But I’ve found no mention of it on riceowls.com, rice.edu, Amazon.com or worldcat.org.
