Stained Glass in the RMC

Some time ago a colleague who works in Fondren drew my attention to this interesting window in a staircase of the RMC:

If you look closely you can see that it too has a plaque associated with it, this one in memory of Chauncey Walter Stewart:

As with the ones outside I was both deeply interested and completely stymied until that box of ARA materials turned up the answer:

Stewart was indeed the editor of the 1925 Campanile (a very nice book, by the way) but he was also very active in Rice dramatics and continued to participate in campus theatrical productions even after he graduated. Here’s his senior portrait:

He died quite suddenly in the spring of 1928 of acute encephalitis.
