Before there was “Hello, Hamlet” . . . 1954

the Sarah Lane Literary Society was parodying Macbeth! (I tend to think Macbeth has somewhat more comic potential, particularly in an academic setting.) The program appeared in a package of memorabilia that arrived at the Woodson a week or so ago:

I started poking around in the SLL scrapbooks and found this Thresher story about the event:

And the scrupulous SLL historian that year even glued in a couple of photographs:

The admission charge, by the way, was 75 cents.

Bonus: This I did not expect. Lovett Hall, facing academic quad.
