One morning last week I was on my way in to work when just by chance I ran into Brandon Martin, the campus videographer, in front of the Brochstein Pavilion. Brandon is pretty game, so I dragged him in with me to record something. Remember William Max Nathan, member of the class of 1916? I’ve mentioned him more than once, most prominently here. On this morning two of his granddaughters were coming to the Woodson to see his scrapbook for the first time. It turned out to be very moving– sweet and complicated and flat out interesting. I’m still thinking about it today and probably will be for quite some time.
