Ervin Kalb, ’16: “stamp collecting was his hobby and Rice was his psychosis”

The other Kalb who graduated in 1916 was Ervin, better known for his whole life as “Tiny.” He wasn’t, of course, but rather the opposite. I’ve written about him during his student days when he was a key element of Rice’s earliest football, basketball and track teams and one of our first real stars. Here he is in 1913 playing at Rice Field–he’s the tall one right in the middle, without a helmet:

What I found yesterday, though, were clippings about his death from a heart attack in 1964. Here are the facts:
