I got back from Omaha on Saturday, just in time to help with our move back into our renovated house. It’s been crazy for the last few days but, as you know, I never stop thinking about my Rice blog. So I’m too swamped to write, but I’m not above taking the opportunity to get you guys to do some work for me.
This picture has no identifying marks at all. I don’t know what year it was–70s? 80s?–or who these people are. But I kind of suspect that the woman might be really important, like maybe a college coordinator. Anybody?
I’ll try to do better tomorrow, but the cable guys, the tile guys and the electrician are supposed to show up (an iffy proposition) so frankly, its touch and go. Still, I’m really glad to be back.
That’s Chris Saari & Tony Paine (Lovett College Secretary). Must have been taken around 1969 or ’70.
I would say the hair style is 1960’s. I am not totally sure, because the hair is different, but I think that is Mrs. Payne, Lovett secretary from maybe 1968 to at least 1979. Interestingly enough, she already knew my last name before I started Rice. Seems at one time she was romantically involved with my cousin, Lester T. Thannisch Sr., a lobbyist, who would stay at the Rice Hotel when he was in Houston.
Is that a photo cube? My dad had one of those with pictures of us kids on it – same era. So did one of my partners in my old firm, come to think of it.
Yup, that’s a photo cube.
It was such a strange sensation to zoom in on a picture and see another picture.
