Well, technically the Thresher came out on Thursdays in 1919 but who’s counting.
Bonus: I don’t know about you folks, but the only use I have for the newspaper anymore is for the comics, which I adore. One of my all-time favorites is Mary Worth, so you can image my excitement when the Italian cypress trees by the Coliseum appeared in the strip the other day!! Clearly, in my opinion, Karen Moy and Joe Giella are regular readers of the Rice History Corner.
I’m not even going to get into what’s going on in this panel other than to say that it’s one of the few times you’ll ever see Wilbur without a sandwich in his hand. Although there might be one in his other hand.
Melissa – that’s what makes you special! I don’t know of anyone else who could find a link between Rice’s Italian cypresses and Mary Worth!
As far as I know, the Thresher has always come out on Thursday evenings to put in students’ hands before the weekend.
I haven’t read Mary Worth in a coon’s age. Is Mike still in it, or did he vanish?
