Memorial Day 2013

Some of you might have noticed that this year’s commencement was Rice’s hundredth even though we just celebrated our centennial last fall. The extra graduations came during World War Two because we were moving Navy V-12 participants through as fast as we could. The were two commencements in both 1944 and 1946. While double checking this information I looked intently at the Campaniles that came out during the war years. These pages are from 1945. I can’t even imagine what it felt like to make this list.In Memoriam 1945 1

  1. Francis Eugene "Gene" PRATT, Institute Class of '56 says:

And I note that at least 8 died in plane crashes in the USA. Seems a high number of training errors to me.
