Tu B’Shevat, 1964

Here’s an unlikely circumstance for you: for the second year in a row I have a picture for Tu B’Shevat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees:

EnanuEl1964

This came to me via Hillel Rabbi Kenny Weiss, who got it from the Congregation Emanu El Facebook page. According to that page, this is Tu B’Shevat 1964 and they were planting the tree in memory of President Kennedy. What catches my eye, of course, is the view of Rice across the street. You can’t see much–not that there was much there at the time anyway–but although there are lots of pictures taken from across Main Street I can’t recall ever having seen a picture taken from across either Rice or Sunset before.
