1962 was a watershed year for smoking. Over 70% of students at some colleges smoked, including my parents who bought quit smoking that year when my seven year old brother and I insisted on also having an after dinner smoke. And enjoyed it. By 1964, the Surgeon General’s report was issued and smoking in the US has seen a decline ever since.
