Friday Follies: Electrical Engineers, 1956

It’s captioned “This beats girls any day!”

Heh.

Bonus: This could be vandalism. Or I suppose that given the times we live in it might be art. Anyone know?

Imagine the committees required to approve such an art installation.
    Donuts…

This photo might have been taken at the spring engineering show in 1956. If so, I was there. My dad took Paul Norrod and me (from Miller High in Corpus Christi) to see it that year. The show was held annually for several years and was open to anyone who wished to see it. Paul and I both matriculated at Rice in 1956, along with two other high school classmates. That was a number (four) not matched for Miller before or since. Ray High in Corpus Christi sent nine that year, normal for them, I believe, back in those days.

My graduating class of 1965 from Lamar High School in Houston sent 18 people to Rice.

Coming from such a smart class, I can NOT understand why you did NOT know “Lefty” Frazzell!

Excuse me, I meant Lefty Frizzell.
          🙁
          mea culpa

Yes, I think there must have been at least 18 at Rice from the Lamar class of1956.
