It’s not just foreign students who ask the big questions.

Bonus: I found this at the bottom of one of my old purses.

Interesting… The Danish student, Sven(d) Auken, who is mentioned in the article went on become the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Denmark. He was repeatedly elected to the Danish parliament, and he later held Minister (Secretary) positions in various government cabinets throughout the seventies, eighties and nineties. He died in 2009.

Amazing comment about the Russian economy. I do remember that we had doubts because of Spuknik, but wow, were they unfounded.

As for Auken ,e had a dubious distinction in Denmark. “His position as leader of the Social Democrats was challenged in 1992 by Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, who went on to win the internal election. That gave Auken the dubious distinction of being the first Social Democratic leader since 1910 to not become prime minister. (Subsequently, this has happened to Mogens Lykketoft, leader from 2002 to 2005, as well.) “

I’m impressed. I never had one of those when the SSM was in Fondren on the fifth floor from about 1988-90. Got locked in once after a late concert.
