I had a great trip but I’m glad to be home and back in the Woodson. There’s a weird yet comforting time-travel aspect to walking back into Fondren, where it’s the 2005 in the archives but always 1960 in the stacks:
That blue tile may actually be immortal:
I’ve got quite a bit of catching up to do so things may be spotty here for a little while. If I owe you something don’t hesitate to remind me. Squeaky wheel and so forth.
Bonus: I was startled by this thing. There’s a bunch of them too. Anyone?
They are measuring WiFi signal in various locations across campus.
Thanks! I wish they’d come and measure by my desk.
Are they testing signal, or placement of broadcast points to optimize signal?
I think IT is testing the Wi-Fi.
Glad you are home, Melissa. 1960 was about the last time I was seriously in the stacks at Fondren, and I see that the overhead lighting is much improved. As for what you “owe” us, I asked if there had been a post about the football Owls’ 146-3 victory over SMU. You said there had not been, and you would fix that. Thanks in advance. Anyone curious can google “Rice 146 SMU 3”. It was a “come from behind” victory.
