I’m feeling a little bit like this myself.
But it’s all up from here.
Right?
“Been down so long, it looks like up to me”?
I am guessing the picture is from the mid-sixties, based on the “that girl” hairdo and the skinny ties in the audience.
Not enough helmet showing to be definitive, but it would appear to be the ’56-’65 design, based on this info: http://swchelmets.tripod.com/rice.html
#65 looks like Frankie Mandola … and checking some football programs online, he wore that number only during the 1966 football season: http://www.tbmdata.com/SOL/Football/decades_pdfs/1960s/1966/1966_Nov19_Rice_TCU.pdf
In 1967, Mandola is not on the roster, although he did letter. #65 is Leo Vardaman: http://www.tbmdata.com/SOL/Football/decades_pdfs/1960s/1967/1967_Sept30_Rice_Navy.pdf
In 1968, Mandola wore #66; Vardaman is #65: http://www.tbmdata.com/SOL/Football/decades_pdfs/1960s/1968/1968_Oct19_Rice_SMU_CottonBowl.pdf
For all three years, #77 is Gene Hinyard and #73 is Leland Winston.
So this photo was probably taken in 1966.
Interesting. Left to right Frankie B. Mandola, Gene Hinyard, Leland Winston. I thought that ice bag was a neat looking beret. Got to stay fashionable, you never know when a photographer might be around.
