Girl Scout Cookie Time, Early 1970s

There are days when I feel like I’ve seen it all, and too many times at that. But there are still surprises out there and some of them are heartening. In all that Brown College stuff I’ve been talking about recently, I found this happy note:

It looks like from 1972 to at least 1974, Brown sponsored a troop of Brownies. That’s pretty cute but I also find it very moving. The kindness and decency of the girls who did this truly lifted my spirits.

  1. Bill Peebles '70 says:

Despite all the recent controversy, scouting remains a very positive influence for both girls and boys. It seems, though, parents just don’t get involved the way they used to.

The King Kong image is just wonderful!

  2. I don’t know if I have a photo of it, but I have an indelible image from Sid Rich commons. There were two tables pushed together, and Bill Martin’s daughter standing up there surrounded by a wall of Girl Scout cookie cartons. She must have sold a thousand boxes of cookies.
