Garden party, that is.
Dr. Lovett pours some punch for Isaiah Bowman, president of Johns Hopkins, at the 1941 commencement garden party. I’m betting it was not spiked.
President Bowman understands that a light-colored suit is properly worn to a garden party in late spring. President Lovett is clinging to his medium-dark three-piece, which would seem to be a little warm for outdoors at that time. I wonder what President Lovett got on his suit jacket, on the right pocket? Punch?
Enlarged, that “spot” appears to be part of the table decoration like that on the table behind Dr. Lovett’s hand. Spiffy paisley tie that Dr. Bowman is wearing..
You’re right. I looked at that and didn’t see the wispy foliage actually touching the stem.
