Where Was This?

It’s a door push, no? I feel like it’s not around any longer–or if it is, it has to be somewhere I never go, which is nowhere. I found it with the Morehead slides:

New Morehead 5 where

At first I thought RMC, but this is what the door looks like now. (Well, it did look like this a few weeks ago–it’s fixed now. I took the picture only because the sign struck me as being . . . not quite right.)

  1. Maybe an entrance to a college commons? Will Rice? Or a door at Lovett?

  2. marmer01 says:

Wow, a broken glass RMC door? That makes me sad. I think they’re original to the building. The urban legend was that during a rare student protest at Rice a brick was thrown at those doors and it bounced off harmlessly. The old door push, I’m guessing, might be from the old Hanszen commons which burned in the 1970s.

I also think it was the RMC. The brickwork on the wall in the background is definitely RMC-ish.

  4. Chris Castellani says:

It’s really hard to read, but I think the note at the top of the door says:

“ENER-JAZZ is mostly designed (?) for beginners
    No dance experience is necessary!”

I know that door. I’ve pushed that door. It’s not the RMC. Lovett elevator lobby?

My 1st instinct is Hamman Hall, though I can’t explain why.

  7. marmer01 says:

I’m pretty confident that the black and white picture is not from Hamman Hall.

    It may be a room divider and not a door . . . .

  9. Stephen Smith says:

One of those things I’ve touched and recognize, but can’t remember exactly where. I’m pretty sure that it was a commons, and probably Hanszen, as marmer01 suggested.
