This year’s concurrence of Homecoming and Veterans Day reminded me of Dr. Lovett’s remarks to the Association of Rice Alumni in 1945, his last as president, which likewise coincided with what was then called Armistice Day. People don’t write like this anymore nor do we play Arkansas for Homecoming.
