I had another one that was even worse but I decided to save it for a rainy day.

The Mets went 53 and 109 that year.

  1. Doug Williams says:

Another Rice connection – Pitzer would have managed Wayne Graham, who played 20 games for the Mets in 1964. Fortunately, he has won more games with Rice than he did with the Mets.

“I’m tired of playing in the Minor Leagues. I saw my chance to move up to a major league organization, and I took it.” Guess the Pitzer “quote” was considered funny back in ’64. Not so funny these days as I’ve watched Coaches, Athletic Directors and, most recently, our best athletes leaving Rice when they see the chance to move up to a bigger “major league” stage. Unless the Rice administration seriously addresses this problem and committs to resolving it, our athletic programs will continue in the graveyard spiral of indifference and irrelevance we currently find ourselves in.
