Buns out.
Hard to date (lack of clothes), but my wild guess is late ’70s to early ’80s.
Maybe I’m too suspicious, but I wonder how much studying was actually going on here.

Is there any possibility that you could scan these at a higher resolution so we can see the image better?
I can almost smell the Hawaiian Tropic lotion.
The fellow with the book on his face would support your supposition that little studying occurred.
the original “face book?
” (sorry… couldn’t resist!)
It is definitely the Jones North roof, I think during the first year men were at Jones (1980-81). The Jones Fast Women were getting used to co-ed (does anyone use that word anymore?) sunbathing, which required certain adjustments to our coverage. Of course, we were all studying, some more closely (the guy with the book on his face) than others.
Definitely agree. I think this was my freshman year (81/82).
“Jones Fast Women?” This is well past my time at Rice but there must be an interesting story here. Can someone explain?
“Jones Fast Women” was the name of the Jones beer-bike team.
And as I recall, after they went coed, there were “Jones Fast Men”. That took a little getting used to too.
And their opponents next door were the Little Brown Jugs.
I think I recognize this photo from the 1982 Campanile.
I also was going to post that I thought I remembered this photo from a Campanile I have. I feel like I almost recognize some of the people, but it’s just been too many years.
It’s on page 257 of the 81/82 Campanile. Since it’s the “cover page” of the Jones section, there isn’t a caption identifying the students.
Is guy holding book Keith Chappell?
